How to print barcode & price labels directly from Shopify purchase orders

Receiving a large shipment of new inventory is a great milestone, but it is immediately followed by a tedious chore: printing price tags and barcode labels for all the new stock before it goes on the retail floor.

If you are using Shopify's default tool, this process is incredibly slow. Here is how to optimize your label printing workflow, and how printing labels directly from a received purchase order cuts processing times by 90%.

The bottleneck: Shopify's Retail Barcode Printer

Shopify provides a free app called the Retail Barcode Printer. While it works for printing individual labels or small batches, it has a major workflow limitation:

It does not integrate with your purchase orders or inventory receiving lists.

1. Open the Retail Barcode Printer app.
2. Search for each product variant manually.
3. Manually type the quantity received for each one.
