Printing Shopify purchase order labels on a Dymo LabelWriter
Print price or barcode labels straight from a received purchase order in Reorda and, until recently, you got one layout: an Avery 5160 sheet, sized for a laser printer and a stack of pre-cut label paper. That works well at a desk. It doesn't work at all if the printer sitting on your receiving counter is a Dymo LabelWriter feeding a continuous roll.
Why sheet labels and roll labels aren't interchangeable
A sheet layout assumes a fixed grid — rows and columns of label-sized cells on a full page, printed and then peeled apart by hand. A roll printer like the Dymo LabelWriter 450 has no page at all: it prints one label at a time, sized to the physical roll loaded in it, and advances automatically. Sending a sheet-formatted PDF to a roll printer either prints nothing usable or wastes the roll trying to fit a full page onto a single small label.
The two need genuinely different layouts, not just a scaled-down version of the same one.
What's supported now
Alongside the existing Avery 5160 sheet format, Reorda now generates labels sized for the Dymo LabelWriter 450 on 30340 stock (2 1/4" × 1 1/4") — one of the most common small-warehouse label printer and roll combinations. On the print-labels page for any received purchase order, a format selector switches between the two layouts, and Reorda remembers whichever one your shop used last, so it's a one-time choice rather than a setting you re-pick on every print.
Everything else about label printing stays the same regardless of format: it pulls straight from the received PO — SKU, barcode, price — with no separate export through Shopify's own label tooling.
Where this came from
Like most of what ships in Reorda, this wasn't a guess at what printers merchants might own — it came from a specific customer whose warehouse already had a Dymo LabelWriter 450 in place and no way to print to it from a received PO. Rather than asking them to buy different hardware, the label output adapted to the printer they already had.
